Arranging A Funeral.
Arranging a funeral is something that we don't have to do very often
in our lifetime. It can be a very upsetting and emotionally charged time,
families often feel very anxious that they are fulfilling their loved ones wishes.
Ruth Mackey Funeral Services will endeavour to make this time as easy for you as
possible.We will spend as much time with you as is required to help you plan a befitting service
for your loved one.
Things you need to do:-
Registration
Death must be registered within five days of death occurring.

The registrar will require certain information, details of which are listed below.
You will be asked:-
In all cases: Date and place of birth and death,
Full name of the deceased,
Marital status of the deceased,
Home address of the deceased,
Last occupation (even if retired)
Any former names the deceased was known by
If married at the
time of death Date of birth of surviving partner
If widowed at the
time of death Wife or husband's full name and occupation, Maiden name of female
It would be helpful to bring birth and marriage certificates if they are available.
The Registrar will provide you with:-
(a) Certificate for Burial or Cremation (the Green Form) - this will be required by the Funeral
Director (unless the Coroner is involved)
(b) Certicate of Registration of Death - if the Department of Work and Pensions needs to know
about the death.
(c) Death Certificate - obtainable for a small fee. You will need one of these for obtaining probate,
pension claims, insurance policies, savings certicates and premium bonds, or release of funds
held in a Bank or Building Society.
Arranging the Funeral
Funeral arrangements can be made at any time, although the date when a funeral can be held by be affected
if the Coroner is involved or exceptionally a hospital post mortem.
The chosen Funeral Director will need the Certificate of Burial or Cremation (Green Form).
If there is a will this may give requests about the funeral arrangements.
If you arrange for a funeral you are resonsible for paying the bill so first check where the money will come
from and if there will be enough.
The Funeral Director will advise you on all matters concerning the funeral and will help you to make
decisions on anything you are unsure about.
